Dr Austin Griffiths is a Senior Lecturer in Education Studies. Dr Griffiths leads for the Dissertation, the Special Educational Needs, and the Historical and Contemporary Issues modules. He is particularly interested in educational inequalities, school grouping practices, and students’ attitudes to school. His doctoral research was a quantitative study exposing inconsistencies between the policy rhetoric of equality and practitioners’ perceptions of different groups of student. He is currently researching into Music Education - particularly why certain children choose to play cerain instruments.
