Research interests/expertise

My research current areas of interest below:

  • Peak load and total energy demand reduction in buildings. Especially, addressing the challenge of overheating in buildings, within a heating world. I am particularly interested in hot climatic countries as the challenge will be greater there. This also includes the modelling and analysis of renewable and energy efficient technologies for buildings, such as ground source heat pumps, thermal storage, green roofs and cool roofs.
  • Thermal comfort in buildings, moreover the interplay between energy use, thermal comfort and indoor quality is particularly interesting in a post-COVID world. Here, natural ventilation design and mixed mode buildings offers scope for investigation.
  • I am also interested in understanding how technology can support changing human behaviour towards buildings energy usage, but also thermal comfort perceptions.
  • Energy and resource efficiency in the industry and buildings. This includes exergy analysis to model material, energy and water flows for resource accounting (Life cycle analysis).
