The Governance Effectiveness Review

˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ Leicester (˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿) welcomes the publication of the latest independent Effectiveness Review authored by Advance HE, a thorough examination of the university’s governance structure and processes.

The review, which was completed in December 2021 and which follows a previous review conducted by Advance HE in December 2019, is positive affirmation of the work carried out to overhaul ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿’s governance and culture. The report includes no formal recommendations for improvement.

The university welcomes the report’s suggestion that it “…has transformed its governance arrangements since the regulatory investigation in 2019” and that “New processes and policies have been put in place, and a culture established that welcomes diversity, encourages debate and engagement, and actively listens to the student voice.”

Despite the fact that no formal recommendations for improvement have been made, the report does include four suggestions for consideration. The Board of Governors, having considered the findings of this report at its away day meeting in January 2022, resolved to consider its response at a further away day meeting in October 2022 where there will be the opportunity for detailed discussion.

Prior to conducting this latest review, the board oversaw the implementation of over 20 recommendations and suggestions made by Advance HE in 2019 in regard to its governance and culture. The content of the previous review can be accessed below alongside the latest report.
