Institute of Architecture

Research in the Institute of Architecture ranges from technical and empirical to practice-based outputs. The strength of the institute lies in its multi-disciplinary staff and their collaborative research to understand how architecture and the built environment work in the real world.

The institute aims to develop a research focus on housing and dwelling, cities and urbanism and architectural geometry and fabrication, while retaining existing research excellence in the low impact built environment. The latter has developed research methodologies in the built environment and frameworks, together with prototypes for sustainable houses satisfying social and cultural needs of local communities in developing countries.

We interviewed ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ staff, ranging from Pro-Vice Chancellor to PhD students, together with the Director of the Institute. The institute explores methods of how to think of sustainable development and the built environment from a holistic perspective moving towards operational sustainability. The research work is related to UN SDGs 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 13 (climate action).
