The Daria Project
Learn to Ride a Bike
Cycling is an excellent activity on many different levels. It is great for your physical and mental health, an effecient form of transportation and of course, a low carbon and good for the planet form of transportation!
Despite this, many of us do not know how to ride a bike. In fact, around 1 in 8 adults in the UK never learned to ride a bike, so if you are one of them, know that you are not alone.
The Daria Project provides staff and students with the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike for the first time. A journey that Daria Brazhnyk went on in 2023 when she went from biking beginner to profecient cyclist. .
The biking programme is completely free and run in partnership between ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ and the Leicester City Council. To learn the ways of the bike, please .
Vehicle Parking & Cycle Policy
˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ is committed to the principles of sustainable development and protecting the environment, above and beyond our legal obligations. In order to accomplish this, we need to manage our transport needs to minimise harmful emissions.
The university will:
- Act to avoid unnecessary journeys, encouraging the use wherever practical of teleconferencing
- Where journeys are necessary, promote the use of the most sustainable form of transport practical, supporting walking, cycling and the use of public transport and shuttle buses (where available) for transport between sites
- Where cars are the most practical form of transport available for a particular journey, seek to use them as efficiently as possible, by encouraging multiple occupancy of vehicles and avoiding duplication of journeys
- Where vehicles are hired, leased or purchased by the university, favour the use of small, efficient, low-emission engines, including where possible electric vehicles
