SIM Cards Hardship Programme

Stay connected with family and friends with a free SIM card from the Student Hardships Team.

The team are providing eligible students with a free SIM card, valid for six months of use, thanks to the Vodafone Foundation and the Access Foundation.

SIM

Since its launch in December 2023, the programme has provided over 50 SIM cards to students in need, improving their academic performance and general quality of life.

Anonymous feedback collected from students shows the positive impact, with one student stating: ‘I do not have broadband at home. The sim will help with data for assignments and email. It will mean less trips to the Leicester City Council library and the University campus to get access to WiFi.’

To find out more about the initiative, including eligibility criteria, contact Melissa via email at mpage@dmu.ac.uk.

If you are in need of non-academic support, you can visit our friendly teams over at The Student Gateway on the Ground Floor of Gateway House.

You can also visit the microsite to view the services on offer or talk to a member of the team via live chat.
