Research Degree Tuition Fees 2024/2025
Tuition fees will differ depending on whether you are a Home student, an International student studying in the UK, an IPhD student studying in your home country and whether you are studying full time or part time.
All fees are subject to an annual increase and will be published here once confirmed.

PhD fees | Home students
Full-time: £4,786 per annum. Part-time: £2,393 per annum.

Full-time: £14,675 per annum. Part-time: £7,338 per annum.

DBA fees | Home students
Full-time: £9,175 per annum. Part-time: £9175 per annum. Full and part-time fees are identical and charged over the same 3 year period.

Full-time: £12,675 per annum. Part-time: £12,675 per annum. Full and part-time fees are identical and charged over the same 3 year period.

International PhD fees (IPhD) | To be studied in your home country by non-UK students
Full-time: £9,500 per annum. Part-time: £4,750 per annum.

Full-time: £4,786 per annum. Part-time: £2,393 per annum.

Bench Fees
Some research programmes charge a bench fee in addition to tuition fees. Bench fees are charged where your research will incur specific additional costs. If you are made an offer of admission and a bench fee is applicable, it will be clearly stated on the offer letter. Bench fees are set by individual research institutes within faculties.
Alumni Discounts
De Montfort university offers alumni discounts for students that have previously studied with us at undergraduate or taught master's degree level. This discount is available to Home and International Students. This discount is only available to new starters and will be automatically applied to eligible students.
Home alumni discount is £500 per year (full-time equivalent).
International alumni discount is £2,000 per year (full-time equivalent).
Additional Costs
In addition to tuition fees, you will also need to meet your living costs. This will include accommodation and other related costs such as food, household goods, travel and clothing etc. There may also be costs associated with your research programme such as stationery, books, travel and field trip expenses. It is important to have sufficient funding in place to meet all costs.
